Stories from the Egg

While I love sharing my art and writing, I think it’s always the journey that turns out more interesting. There’s a lot that goes into an adventure. There are lots of mistakes, drama, crying, but also a lot of waiting and sitting with stuff. I think that’s the hardest part. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve had to learn to sit with the hard stuff. Not by choice, more because my body doesn’t let me do the things it used to. At least for the time being. I’ve had to slow down. I’ve had to learn things like self care. I’ve had to face and feel the hard feelings. It sucks sometimes and I just want to be a toddler and have a first class tantrum in the middle of Home Depot. I envy the kids who can do that. I did not do that as a child and sometimes I think that I really missed out. But now, I’m learning how to be an egg. Did you know that it is the egg that chooses the sperm? I know, right? It like blew my mind. All this time, I thought the female body was designed by the patriarchy. But biologically, the egg chooses her partner. And is she searching like a maniac? Nope. She just sits there, takes care of herself and looks pretty. What a metaphor for life. Anyway, my Substack Account, Stories from the Egg is for me to talk about that journey—both creative and personal. You can’t really separate the two if you’re a creative in any way, shape or form. I hope you’ll join me there.
